Should we rewrite Canadian textbooks to include indigenous voices?

Should we rewrite Canadian textbooks to include indigenous voices?

I believe indigenous voices need to be included in textbooks used in our classrooms because they are apart of our history that has been ignored for way too long. I think we need to address Canada's history in an honest way.
As someone who graduated many years ago, I had never known about Canada's true history until I took a pre-confederation history class and I really believe that my generation missed out on a crucial and important part of Canada's history.
Therefore, if we include indigenous voices in our textbooks, it would help address the current gaps in Canada's history.

I completely agree with you Lindsay. I think there should be a whole new version of updated texts that includes accurate historical events and not just coming from a colonized perspective. Society cannot have a clear understanding of Canadian history when so much is left out. If the Government of Canada began by abolishing the Indian Act, that would be a great start...
