This year I have appreciated diving into sharing circles.
I have learned that the circle influences how Indigenous people view the world. It shows how all things in life are connected. Circles and cycles are all related. The sun, the moon, the seasons, the journey of our lives from birth to death. Circles are a natural way to walk your path and conduct your life and align with the fundamentals of the natural world.
The circle is whole and doesn't end. That being said it can be unbalanced depending on what is in it or not in it. But in general, a circle is impartial, fair and representative of inter-connectivity and equality. I love this concept in a classroom. What an incredible way to encourage development of those relationships and build trust which is very important for learning. Sharing circles offer so much to a classroom for everyone involved in it.
What else can a sharing circle bring to your school/classroom?
